We decided to once again make the trek out to Germany to get our own impression of all the hype coming out of Boot Dusseldorf boat show. We didn’t go last year, and we missed it a little, so we had to go this year. By far the biggest theme of the show this year was green technology for boating. Some of what we saw was really good, some was really bad and of course some was just downright strange.

29 JAN, THURSDAY

Today started late for us as we arrived only to Dusseldorf mid-afternoon and quickly make our way to the exhibition hall located a short drive away. Temperature was hovering between 1 to 3 degree celsius so things moved a bit slower than usual for us.
Meridian displayed a 441 and 341
The display stand out from the smaller boats around this hall
This donut shape "boat" caught our eyes today and the concept is actually rather unique as it is essentially call the BBQ-Donut which can seat more than 10 people inside the donut and power away with a small outboard. Don't expect this toy to reach Singapore anytime soon but it may just spurred a resident inside Sentosa Cove to get one just for fun around the waterways!  >>>
Signs were everywhere from the city of Dusseldorf all the way into the hall
This is just a very small part of the whole event. Just imagine Singapore Expo Hall 1 to 5 add together and multiply that by 10 more time!
Mercury all new 350HP outboard to challenge Yamaha
Not to be outdone, Yamaha came down and brought out an all new 300HP to rival the Verado from Mercury
Nope, it wasn't the new Chaparral but the colur of this Crownline caught our attention
The constrasting hull colour and the upholstry gave a refreshing look to this boat

Selva is an Italian company manufactuing outboard. This 115HP was their biggest showing till date with a 150HP expecting soon
If looks matter, this fishing boat may not be on your shopping list
An interesting electric tender boat. Nicely built with good teak decking and overall fit and finish was great.
If you have SG$15k to spend, the new SeaBob can dive, swim and outrun the SeaDoo version
SeaBob are from Germany. Nice colour!
Rows & rows of boats on display
30 JAN, FRIDAY

Today we moved into Hall 4, 5 & 6 where the main boats are display and the future of boating is surely shifting into high gear as futuristic, intelligent, smart design and innovation were everywhere to be found on most boats displayed. LED lighting onboard are now the norm while electric and solar powered boats were everywhere. Although prohibitively expensive now due to the early technology cost, they are only seen on smaller boat size for now.
A twin mutli-hull electric boat with full solar panel above the hard top
Nice hull colour to complement this electric boat
Another sleek looking electric boat on display. This one came from a German company
Getting retro and having zero emission. This was a clever combination for this electric boat
Hybrid, Green, Renewable...terms which are use by builders to identify their "new technology". This boat from Greenline has a maximum speed of 15 knots and cruising 13 (diesel), 6 knots electric.
J-Boats, known for their class leading sailboat unveiled a very bold new powerboat design at the Boot Dusseldorf show. With bow flare very much an oversized sailboat, this black hull boat attracted much attention at the center of Hall 6.

Fairline all new Targa 58 Gran Turismo debut at Dusseldorf, Germany, right after the London Boat Show a week ago. This is Hull #2. Look out for the complete editorial review in the upcoming February issue of Motor Boat Monthly Magazine UK on this amazing boat!
